SOFA

ADULT  FACILITATOR  VOLUNTEERS

Description

 Along with other adult volunteers, you will assist in facilitating            weekly SOFA meetings, help plan and develop new youth group         projects, and serve as a role model to SOFA youth.  

Length of Commitment

   At least a one year commitment

Hours of Commitment

   1-2 youth meetings a month (2-4 hours per month)

Required Skills

    Youth mentoring experience is helpful, but not required.  Must be at     least 21 years of age

Additional Requirement

    Background check through SOFA; one must be cleared prior to any     interaction with SOFA youth

Training

    Participate in training programs for working with youth that includes     special concerns of GLBTQ youth, boundary training, when to refer     a youth to professional counseling, keeping confidentiality, what to     do if it’s suspected that a youth is being abused or engaging in             harmful activities/ behavior
